Over the years, we at Tarriss Travel Gear have traveled extensively, and have often been disappointed with the inferior quality of the travel accessories available. These products either didn’t hold up under normal wear and tear conditions, or they simply didn’t do what they were advertised to do. For instance, when you see your clothes tumbling out of your suitcase and onto the baggage carousel…well, you just know that cheap luggage lock didn’t live up to its hype 🙂
We were frustrated with excess baggage fees. Using the bathroom scale to weigh luggage or just eyeballing a suitcase and guesstimating the weight, wasn’t really working for us. It’s a little embarrassing to have the contents of your neatly packed luggage splayed over the airport floor for all to see, as you desperately try to reduce the weight by deciding what you truly can live without – keeping in mind that you have a flight to catch….soon! This started us thinking that we could offer our own digital luggage scale because, if we needed one, others probably did too. One that would be accurate, easy to take along…and get rid of those pesky excess baggage fees! A win-win-win, so to speak 🙂
With our own wish list of travel products that would make our lives easier and reduce some of the stress that can be associated with travel, for ourselves and our fellow travelers, we developed our own line of products. Our travel safety products are designed to increase not only the security of luggage and other valuables but also to protect your personal information.
Our initial product – The Jetsetter Digital Luggage Scale – was launched in 2014, and quickly became one of the most popular and highly regarded luggage scales on the travel market. We believe so strongly in the excellent quality and reliability of our products that we use them ourselves (and we’re picky!)…AND we offer a lifetime warranty – a rarity in the travel accessory market…or any market for that matter!
To complement our travel safety products, our own Insider’s Guide to Traveling Through Airports 2017 provides travelers with practical and valuable tips and tricks to assist with every aspect of traveling through airports, from saving on baggage fees, getting through security, and dealing with unfortunate issues when they do arise…and they will – trust us, we’ve had our fair share 🙂
We truly value our customers because without them Tarriss Travel Gear would not exist, which is why our customer care is top priority and the cornerstone of the Tarriss brand. In fact, we’ve often been referred to as a customer service company with great products. Don’t believe us? Give us a try. You can reach our customer care team here: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Products come and go and trends rise and fall, but one thing that remains constant at Tarriss Travel Gear is that we deliver what we promise and take care of our customers as if they were family.
Tarriss was built from the ground up based on this set of core values:
- Respect our customers and treat them like family (go that extra mile for our customers)
- Be uncompromising on product quality (we offer a lifetime warranty on most products)
- Be curious and wonder “why” and “how” we can improve (pursue learning about our industry and what can help travelers reduce their stress and anxiety)
In addition to our core values, we support sustainable travel and ecotourism, and believe in leaving the smallest footprint possible while exploring the world.

When I was just five my mother helped me pack my bags so I could run away from home. I had a change of pants, an apple and my favorite toy. It was my first solo trip and although I was only going to the back yard, I had learned the art of traveling light. It was also the start of a life-long adventure in learning, travel and serial entrepreneurship.

Growing up in the Canadian prairies I’ve always used my imagination to change the landscape into something other than flat. I would dream the wheat fields were actually the ocean and if I squinted my eyes the trees in the distance turned into mountains. Sometimes my sisters and I would lay a blanket down in the field and pretend it was our “raft” and we’d journey to different places and meet different people.
Although I believe a good imagination can add to the journey, I’ve come to realize through travels of my own that there is no substitute for the real thing.

There’s no place like home, but a home away from home can feel just as good. Especially when the right people are with you. Growing up, my family spend many summers boating and playing on hot beaches. A swimming suit and a cold drink was a vacation. Now that I have a family of my own, traveling can be so much more. There is culture everywhere. I want to experience it all! Incorporating work and travel is a dream come true.
Favorite place traveled (so far): Alaska

As a girl, I dreamed of travels to far off, exotic spots – like those in which my Harlequin Romance heroines lived and loved. Now, so many years later, my love for travel has not diminished (but my taste in literature definitely has expanded). The sights, sounds, smells and flavors unique to each destination visited, the locals I have met, the culture I have experienced – each has left an indelible mark on the way I view the world. In my experience, travel = knowledge = respect and understanding.
